Democratic candidate for Bronx Boro President race joins Muslim community to open new Islamic Center in Claremont

On Saturday October 9, Council member Vanessa L. Gibson joimed the Bronx Mulsim community to open new Islamic center in Claremont.

"I’m so proud to join our Muslim community for the official ribbon cutting of the new Islamic Cultural Center in #Claremont.

"After a horrific fire 12 years ago, many gave up on rebuilding. I recall this day as I was a new Assemblywoman and was on scene witnessing the destruction of our Masjid," she said in her recent post on her office Facebook page. 

The Democratic candidate who his vying for the position of the Bronx Borough President in this year's election in November commended the commitment of some Bronx Muslim leaders who ensured the Islamic Cultural Center got a new look.

"Our Imams and leaders kept the faith and developed a plan to rebuild this beautiful Cultural Center for our children and families.

"Congratulations Imam Bajaha and the entire community for your commitment, dedication and strength to see your vision to fruition. It’s been an honor to be your Council Member through the years. Thank You for never giving up," Council member Gibson concluded.
